Jona Marie Monreal, 42, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Stormont Vail Health Center.
Jona was born June 23, 1974, in Topeka, KS, to John and Mary Monreal, Sr. She attended Topeka High School and later received her GED. Jona managed several pizza restaurants around Topeka. She was a creative cook and had a love of food. Jona was as generous as she was kind to all creatures and she loved her family above everything else.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kayla Monreal, Lea Houghton, and Michelle Monreal-Houghton all of Topeka; grandchildren, Antwone, Mahlik, and Kalena Monreal-Anderson; parents; and siblings, Connie Muniz, John Monreal, Jr., Eric Stewart, and Marc Stewart.
Jona is also survived by her partner of ten years, Elizabeth "Judy" Coffman.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Cleo Howerton; and paternal grandmother, Refugia "Cookie" Nolting.
The family will greet friends and extended family from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Topeka Cemetery, Topeka.
