Johnnie Wright

Johnnie Lee Wright, 63, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at a local hospital.

Johnnie was born September 27, 1943 in Wichita, the son of Jacob C. and Reva (Reaka) Wright.

He attended Pleasant Valley elementary, Junior High and Wichita North High School through his junior year in Wichita before moving to Missouri and completing high school in Willow Springs.

He served in the U.S. Marines from 1962 thru 1965 and was a decorated Vietnam Veteran.

He worked for Thomas Transfer and Storage and Hopkins Manufacturing in Emporia, 13 years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, as a cook at Tevis Restaurant and 7 years as a Corrections officer all in Topeka.

He was a former member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Moose Lodge.

John married Sally Lee Lynch on May 3, 1985 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Marisha Wright, Carbondale; step-son, Rick Lynch and wife, Charlene, Carbondale; step-daughter, Cyndi Ryan and husband, Rick, Topkeka; 4 grandchildren, Rob Lynch, Meaghan Burton and husband, Dustin, Randi Lynch, Jeff Ryan and wife, Rachel; and a great-granddaughter, Kaetlyn Burton.

Memorial services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26. 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
