JOHNETTE PAYNE

Johnette Fleetwood Payne,88, died on Thursday, May 5 at
Aldersgate Village.

Johnie was born on May 15,1927 in Wichita, Kansas,
daughter of John and Katherine Fleetwood. She graduated from Wichita
East High School and attended Washington University in St. Louis,
where she met Jack Payne. They married and had two children, Carey Ann
(Gregg) Van Sickle of Topeka, Kansas and Mark (Shirley) Payne of
Houston, Texas. Johnie and Jack later divorced. He preceded her in
death in 1995.

Johnie worked in the travel industry in Emporia, Kansas City, and
Wichita. She traveled the world, including Europe, China, and Russia
and many exotic ports of call. For the past 25 years, she lived in
Topeka where she worked at JC Penney's and as a manager at Wesparke
and Rosehill townhome complexes.After retirement,

Johnie enjoyed chauffering residents of
Wesparke and Rosehill to various appointments. She was an avid golfer,
chef, and reader. She loved following national politics.

A sister, Charlotte Finchum of Wichita, preceded her in death. In
addtion to her children, Johnie is survived by five grandchildren:
John (Molly) Van Sickle, New York City; Andrew Van Sickle, Milwaukee,
Wisconsin; Kelley (Tommy) Van Towle of Roeland Park, Kansas; Jeremy
(Jenn) Payne, Houston, Texas; and Patrick (Brandee) Payne of Spokane,
Washington. She is also survived by three great grandchilden:
Grady,Charlie, and Colbie.

A private family service will be held in Wichita, Kansas. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Trent Memory Unit at
Aldersgate Village where Johnie felt very happy & comfortable for the
last two years of her life. The address for Aldersgate Trent Memory
