John Wesley Parton, 67, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, July 20, 2008.
He was born July 3, 1941 in Topeka the son of John and Gladys Parton.
He worked at Interstate Electronics four years. John then served the Topeka Police Department from 1966-1993 retiring as a Corporal. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Mr. Parton enjoyed bowling and was an avid music lover.
He married Darlene Case July 24, 1966. She survives. Other survivors include his son, John W. Parton III, his daughter, Lori Johnson, his daughter in law, Kimberly Parton, all of Topeka; two sisters, Thelma Hoss and Florence Chalker, a special cousin, Sandy Jolly, Topeka; five grandchildren, twelve nieces and nephews, two great nieces, thirteen great nephews, five great-great nieces and fourteen great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers Harold and Robert.
Family was very important in John's life. He will be greatly missed by everyone he has touched.
Mr. Parton will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
