John W. Macarthur

John W. MacArthur, 80, of Topeka, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at his home.
He was born October 24, 1935 near Alta Vista, Kansas to Orville and Agnes MacArthur. He graduated from Alta Vista High School in 1953.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Mary Hopkins and Ruth Smith. John married Katharina Kleemann in Germany on March 25, 1958. She survives along with a brother Bruce MacArthur and a host of nieces and nephews.
John worked for the AT & SF Railway and retired from U.S. Postal Supply Center. He also retired from the military after serving 20 years with duty in Japan and Germany.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 10th & Lane. Burial with military honors will be at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 3715 SW 29th St., STE 100, Topeka, KS 66614.
