John Vorse
John Doyle Vorse, 86, of Round Rock, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, after a long illness.
John was born to William Henry Vorse and Edna Elva Boaz on August 23, 1921, in Wilsey, KS. He grew up in Topeka and lived there most of his life until moving to Roundrock, TX recently.
He owned Vorse Heating and Cooling for 30 years until he retired.
He served in the armed forces during WWII and also belonged to the American Legion.
He is survived by Alyce JoAnn of Round Rock, TX, wife of 31 years and his sister, Ina Ross of Topeka.
Survivors also include three daughters: Sandra Poe, Wichita; Deanna Williams, Olathe and Jill Norvell, Austin, TX; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented by Fort Riley Casualty. A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29 at the funeral home.
