John P. "Phil" Spaulding, 83, Topeka, KS passed away peacefully June 1, 2018 at his home.
Phil was born June 27, 1934 in Topeka, KS the son of John Ernest and Georgia (Brown) Spaulding.
Phil married Emolyn "Emmy" L. Bonner on July 13, 1963.
He graduated from Topeka High School in 1952. Phil attended Washburn University. He began working for E.I. DuPont in 1959 where he was a Senior Systems Analyst. Prior to that he was employed by the Kansas State Highway Commission. Phil spent his first 52 years in Topeka. In 1986 he transferred with DuPont to Texas. In 1997 he moved back to Topeka. Over the years Phil had been associated with Auburn-Washburn citizen's advisory committee, the Kansas National Guard 174th MP BN., Topeka Police Reserve and several local flying organizations. He was a proud member of the first class of the Volunteers in Police Service program (VIPS), where he received numerous awards and recognitions including the award for Most Volunteer Hours. Phil served as President of the Sherwood Lake Club and Edinburgh Townhome Association. He was also a member of Topeka Bible Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Emmy and daughter in love, Crissy Dodson.
Survivors include daughter, Vicki L. Spaulding, Topeka; two sons, John Neil Spaulding, St. Louis, MO, Jeffrey E. (Lisa) Spaulding, Topeka; two step daughters, Deborah L.(Scott) Beeler, Overland Park, KS, Linda M.(C.C.) Metzler, Topeka; step son, Michael D. Gatrost, Topeka; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and his adored puppy Missy.
Family will greet friends Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka. Funeral service will be Friday, June 8, 2018 10:00 am at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
