John Robert Hack
12/20/1946 to 01/23/2015
Our awesome cherished husband, father and grandfather completed his earthly journey in our loving arms and passed to our Lord on Friday January 23rd 2015.
John Robert Hack was born on Dec 20, 1946, the son of John and Mary Hack. Best known as Bob to everyone he knew, he graduated from Hayden High School in 1964 and was a member of the Kansas National Guard from 1966 to 1971. Bob married his high school sweetheart; Bernadine Meier on October 14, 1967 and they had two children, Shane and Kim. He worked for many years at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka while raising his family. In 1973, he moved his family to Maple Hill, KS, a town that he would always cherish and call home.
In 1986, he began working as an EMT while attending Saint Mary's of the Plains College to obtain his nursing license. Bob graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991. From there, his new career took him to Stormont Vail where he worked over 20 years in the Emergency Room where he made many great friends and was well respected. Bob was a very caring and compassionate nurse who touched the lives of many whom he helped and befriended throughout the years. He was most proud that his two children, Shane and Kim both followed in his footsteps and became RN's like their father.
Bob was a very passionate archer and outdoorsman, who loved hunting and fishing. He was very well known to family and friends for his wit and humor which he carried with him to the very end.
Bob is survived by his wife, Bernadine of the home, son Shane (Sara) Hack, daughter Kim (Dave) Stonaker, four grandchildren Brielle Law, Kyle Stonaker, Peyton Hack and Julian Hack; his brother Phil (Susan) Hack; sister Carol Hack; brother and sister in law's Teresa Reeb, Tom and Sylvia Graham, Art and Ann Meier, Bobby Meier, Mike and Sherry Meier, John and Mary Grace and numerous nieces and nephews.
