John R. McMahon, 75, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015. He was born August 23, 1940, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of Mike and Hazel McMahon.
John was a graduate of St. Mary's Colgan High School in Pittsburg. He served in the U.S. Army, Bravo Company, 249th Engineer Battalion and was honorably discharged. John was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka.
John married Lorene Bennett. She survives. Other survivors include son, Michael (Billie) McMahon; grandchildren, Aubrie and Addison McMahon; step-grandchildren, Julia and Jenna Webb; and siblings, Janice (Don) Hos, Pati (Patrick) McMahon, and Robin (Terry) Tremain.
Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday, at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
