John M. Fritz
John M. Fritz, 78, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Lexington Park Nursing Facility. He was born on July 5, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Hugo and Marie (Fauth) Fritz.
John grew up in St. Louis, MO where he attended Washington University. He was a veteran the U.S. Air Force where he served with the police force during the Korean Conflict. He married Shirley Jenne on September 18, 1954 in St. Louis, MO. They lived in Oklahoma City, OK; Sacramento, CA and Reno, NV before moving to Topeka in 2009. Chaplain Jude, with Grace Hospice summed him up by saying, "John, whatever it is you're selling, I'm buying." Some of his many business ventures included, representing Hussman Refrigeration for several years as a salesman; he and his wife introduced "under 21" non-alcoholic discos called "The New Age" to the Bay Area between 1976 and 1977. His latest endeavor was an equestrian wholesale book business called, Western International Inc., which he and his wife began in 1985.
John is survived by his wife, Shirley; their two daughters, Linda (Rodge) Moore of Perry, KS and Lisa (Jim) Polasek of Spring Branch, TX; seven grandchildren, Cameron (Wendy) Moore, Cody Moore, Jenne Moore, Shelby Polasek, James Polasek, Jesse Moore and Joshua Polasek; a sister VerNelle Cone and brother Melvin Fritz both of Webster Groves, MO. He was preceded in death by a sister Delores Fritz.
A reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19 at The Chapel at Laclede Groves in Webster Grove, MO, funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
