John Lawrence

John M. "Jack" Lawrence, 81 of Tecumseh, KS passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 18th, 2010 after a short battle with leukemia. He was born July 10, 1928 in Inglewood, California, son of Walter E. and Persis S. (Perkins) Lawrence. John grew up in Hampton, New Brunswick. He was an Electronic Technician and retired from the United States Air Force in 1972 after serving 20 years. During which he served in the Korean War. He also retired from the University of Kansas after 17 years.

He enjoyed music, computers, gardening, remodeling, and was a perfectionist in woodworking.

John married the love of his life, Dorothy A Zeller, in Lawrence, KS on November 6th, 1955. She survives.
He is also survived by his children Johnny (Mary Kay) of Topeka, KS, Cherryl Boyett of Holton, KS and Martin (Tina) of Hiawatha, KS; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include brothers, Karl of Hampton, New Brunswick and George of Rocklin, CA; sisters, Kathleen of Cobourg, Ontario, Ann of Hampton, New Brunswick, Frances of Malagash, Nova Scotia and Caroline of Dracut, MA.
He was preceded in death by his parents & siblings Jane and Bill.

Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wed. Feb. 24, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
