John Kent

April 19, 1941 — February 22, 2016

John Kent, 73, of King City, Mo, formerly of Topeka, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016.

He was born April 19, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Lawrence and Opal Kent.

After graduating from high school John dedicated his life to his military career where he served for over forty years.

Survivors include daughters Margi Tucker (Jeff), Jacqueline Wolf (Bill); sister, Kay Long (Kenny), brothers Fred Kent (Nancy) and Bruce Kent(Kim)Grandchildren Misha Sienkiewicz,, Aaron Broce, Skkye Broce, Dannicka Sienkiewicz (Robbi), Chet Sienkiewicz (Reta), Carter Garbe; Wesley (Amanda) Tucker; Kristie Tucker; Cole Wolf; 6 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his extended military family.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Kent, Jr., two sisters, Betty and Dorothy and a brother, Herb.

John will lie in state after 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February, 25, 2016 at Penwell Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW. 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604 where the family will receive friends and relatives from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 26 at the funeral home with cremation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Phillip Billard Post 1650 of the VFW and sent in care of the funeral home.
