John Keith Odgers, known to many of his family and friends as Keith, 87, of Topeka, passed away on March 13, 2014 in Topeka. He was born May 18, 1926 in Morrowville, KS, the son of John W and Mabel Mayberry Odgers.
Keith graduated from Morrowville Rural High School in 1944 and received a BS Degree from the University of Kansas in 1950. Keith was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was employed as an Accountant for the Seneca School District for over 25 years before retiring. He moved to Topeka in 1995 where he was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Keith married Irene Mae Hubka. She preceded him in death. Keith later married Fran Kline on May 26, 1986 in Seneca. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Rodney K. (Karen) Odgers of Pittsburg, KS, Gregory S. (Sheryl) Odgers of The Woodlands, TX, one daughter, LaNae I. (Vaughn) Minton of Grand Island, NE, two step-sons, Allen (Carol) Kline of Greenwood, IN, David Kline of Topeka, one step-daughter, Sandra (Bruce) Stiles of Topeka, six grandchildren, Crystle (Doug) McCarty, Jennifer (Darren) Obermiller, Patrick (Sarah) Minton, Jarvis (Jebel) Odgers, Monica (Jeremy) Apt, Amanda (Trevor) Hall, four step-grandchildren, Michael (Beth) Hodges, Alyssa (Jeff) Smith, Vanessa Stiles, Marissa Stiles, eleven great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by three sisters, Vivian Diller, Velma Waterman and Leota Morsch.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 in the Klasse Chapel at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Keith will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
