John Grant Gourlay, Iii

John Grant Gourlay,III, 60, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022.
He was born December 17, 1961, in Tupelo, Mississippi, the son of John and Jeanne Gourlay. He graduated from St. Joseph High School 1980. After graduation, he attended classes at Washburn University.
John was active in the community volunteering with Sunshine Connections, the Topeka Police Department and Let's Help for many years.
He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, of Topeka.
John enjoyed collecting stamps, hats and T-shirts from all over the U.S.A, listening to CD's and records, watching movies and was a dedicated sports fan for the Kansas City Chiefs, KC Royals and Kansas University.
John married Karen Philbin on July 22, 1994 in Topeka, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Karen Gourlay; son, Alex Gourlay; two sisters, Jeanne Tolley and Helen Gourlay; brother, George Gourlay; his in- laws, Brenda Bigham and Wayne (Lynn) Philbin; numerous nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Kevin Koen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Connections, 3434 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66606.
