Joseph "Joey" Campbell, 33, of Topeka, died May 8, 2020 at Midland Hospice House. A son of Art and Karen Campbell, he was born November 3, 1986 in Benton, Illinois. Survivors include his parents, a sister Kristin and brother-in-law Nathan Hoskins, brothers Bill, Richard, Robbie and Mike Campbell, along with a number of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and Joey's beloved dog Maverick Dakota.
Born with cystic fibrosis, Joey led an active life until the final stages of his illness. In past years, he enjoyed skateboarding, tennis and weight lifting. He attended Washburn University and was a member of Alpha Delta fraternity. He studied physical therapy and worked in retail, showing his gifts as a salesperson. Joey embraced a "can do" attitude, encouraged fellow CF sufferers, and helped other better understand the disease.
Cremation has been accorded along with private burial. A Celebration of his Life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at First Baptist Church, 3033 SW MacVicar Ave, Topeka, KS 66611. The family will greet friends an hour prior.
