Jocile S. "Jo" Nevin, 90, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Aldersgate Village.
Jo was born April 24, 1917 in Roscoe, Texas, the daughter of Joseph and Bessie (Stallings) Russell.
She graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Nursing, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. She worked as a Nurse at St. Francis Hospital from 1953 to 1958.
She was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church.
She married John Nevin on June 27, 1956 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Marita Peerenboom and husband, Dan; granddaughters, Randi Peerenboom and Angie Peerenboom, all of Topeka. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Nevin will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
