JoAnna Sellards, 83, Topeka, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016.
She was born November 8, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Judith Fisher. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1955 with degrees in Music and Library Science. She was a talented musician playing both the flute and piano. JoAnna enjoyed giving private music lessons in her home. She was a elementary school librarian at Topeka Public Schools and retired from Silver Lake Grade School after 30 years.
On August 15, 1953 she married James E. Sellards, professional trumpet player. He preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Wendy Sellards and son-in-law, Randy Johnson. Survivors include her daughter: Jennifer Johnson; two granddaughters: Sayla and Sara McKinley; two great-granddaughters: Emersen McKynlie Rose and Stella Judith-Jean Elliott and one sister, Jeannie Mellinger.
Memorial services will be 2 pm on Thursday, August 4 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town is assisting with arrangements.
