JoAnn McKinley, 88, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021.
She was born December 4, 1932, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of William and Hazel (Burt) Kirby. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1950.
JoAnn was a very talented seamstress, making custom wedding dresses at Sherri's Bridal at the Plaza in Kansas City and others in the Topeka area. Later, she became a travel agent at Jade Travel.
JoAnn and her husband were worldwide travelers, traveling from Switzerland to Mexico. They also traveled to 48 states. She also enjoyed camping and sewing. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with family and was an amazing grandma and great-grandma.
She was a member at Lowman United Methodist Church, filling in numerous roles.
JoAnn married Evan Robert "Bob" McKinley on August 26, 1951 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2019. She was also preceded in death by parents and sister, Melba Derossett.
Survivors include her sons: Greg (Jana) McKinley, Riley, KS; Mike McKinley, and Roger (Joy) McKinley, all of Topeka; brother: Bill (Ruth) Kirby, St. Louis, MO; nine grandchildren: Heather, Wade, Julie, Nancy, Travis, Nicole, Laura, Dustin and Mitchel; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10am on Thursday, June 3, 2021, with funeral services to follow at 11am at Lowman United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
