Joan L. Carroll, died on March 29, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born to Charlotta and Roy L. Eldredge on September 7, 1922 in Woodriver, Nebraska, due to the recession and her father's railroad career she attended five different high schools. She became a registered nurse, married Ralph W. Carroll and traveled to many different states during WWII.
She did private duty nursing for six years, was the nurse for Peter Kivett Co. from New York who built Colmery O'Neal Hospital and worked at the DuPont Cellophane Plant and the Flexel Co. Plant for 35 years.
Ralph and Joan enjoyed cruises and sailed with friends on 11 cruises and two airplane trips to foreign countries. They celebrated 50 years of a beautiful marriage on March 24, 1993 before Ralph died on October 2, 1993.
Joan is survived by their son, Stephen D. Carroll, of the home and two brothers, Leon Eldredge of Springfield, MO and Ronald Eldredge of Jamul, CA.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, April 2 at Fredonia Cemetery, Fredonia, Kansas.
Joan will lie in state after 11 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town with visitation from 6-8 p.m.
