Jimmie Dennis Kelley, 83, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
He was born June 15, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Dwight Kelley and Neva (Waite) Higgins. He graduated from Wichita East High School and was a U.S. Army veteran.
On October 12, 1974, he married Naomi Schmidt in Wichita. Together they owned and operated Tortilla Jack's in Topeka for over 37 years. Previous to owning Tortilla Jack's, he was a service manager at Dale Sharp and property manager for MRV.
Jimmie served on City Council for eight years. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Topeka.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi; five children, Stephanie (Ed) Weston, Barbara Kelley, Jimmie Kelley, Tyrone Kelley, and Dwight (Marievida) Kelley; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judith Holmes.
Jimmie enjoyed rebuilding and restoring antique cars and trucks. He loved genealogy research, was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Private graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery.
