Jim D. Alley, 73, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021.
He was born February 19, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of Kahn and Joann (Alexander) Alley. He graduated from Petaluma High School in 1966. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. Jim served in the Vietnam War.
He was a Deputy Sheriff for the Alameda County Sheriff's department in Oakland, California. He later worked Security for St. Francis Hospital and Prairie Band Casino. Jim was also the Lieutenant on the police force at the VA Hospital in Topeka. After working at the Topeka VA Hospital, he joined the Federal Marshal Services and retired in 2016.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing slots at the casino, working on bicycles, going to auctions, and watching Blue Bloods, The Walton's and old western movies with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. He was an avid Raider's football fan and enjoyed watching KU Basketball.
Jim married Laura S. Guerrero on March 6, 1971 in Topeka, Kansas. Survivors include his wife, Laura S. Alley; two sons, Frank J. (Trisha) Alley and Steven K. (Sara) Alley; grandchildren, Jace Alley, Kane Alley, Alyssa, Makayla and Caden; siblings, Kahn (Veronica) Alley and Joann M. Alley. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dino Alley.
A visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 312 NE Freeman Ave, Topeka, KS 66616. Inurnment will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
