Jewel E. Acker, 94, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at a local hospital.
Jewel was born September 2, 1918 in Lincoln, NE, the daughter of Walter and Edna (Poort) Hole. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1937.
She taught ceramics and had a ceramic shop in her home for many years. She liked to play bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was involved in several women's groups and the Topeka Woman's Club.
Jewel married Alvin Acker on November 10, 1946 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include their children, daughter, Karen (Larry) Elliott, Shawnee, KS; son, Del (Peggy) Acker, Sheridan, WY; grandchildren, Cory Elliott, Marshall Acker, Kira Fidler, Lauren Acker; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Wilber Hole.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Klasse chapel at First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Jewel will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
