Jerry Mcwhirt

Jerry D. McWhirt, 67, of Topeka, passed away on July 11, 2012.
He was born on September 14, 1944, in Manila, AR the son of John & Flossie McWhirt.
Jerry attended Topeka High School.
He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Mr. McWhirt was employed by Figgs Subaru in Topeka. He previously worked for the Dale Sharp Dealership.
Survivors include, his wife, Vicky McWhirt; three children, Jeri (Gary) Habig, Janel McWhirt of Carlifornia, and Jennifer (Patrick) Grogan; son-in-law, Curtis Coffman; ten grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Brookens; his parents; and his brother, Jewell Tilley.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mr. McWhirt will lie in state after 3 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
