Jerry L. Doyle, 76, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at Midland Hospice House.
Jerry was born July 20, 1930 in Topeka, the son of Robert J. and Sylvia B. (Hankenson) Doyle. He was the 5th of 6 children.
He was a 1949 graduate of Topeka High School. He attended American College in Byrn, PA, received his Chartered Life Underwriter Degree in 1969 and became a Chartered Financial Consultant in 1984.
He was employed by Prudential Life Insurance Company of America for 32 years. He started his career in Lawrence as a salesman and moved to Topeka in 1964 when he was promoted to Sales manager, a position he held until his retirement in 1989.
He was a member and Past President of Topeka Association of Life Underwriters, Past President of the Northeast Kansas Chapter of Financial Service Professionals, member of Masonic Lodge #17 - Topeka Arab Shrine, Topeka Jayhawk Club, past member of Lawrence Jaycees, Lawrence Rotary, Lawrence Country Club, and volunteered as a Tax Aide for AARP for numerous years, assisting the elderly with income taxes. He was also a past member of Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence.
Jerry married Doris N. Lindsay on December 24, 1950 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Deborah O'Connor and husband, Nelson, Henderson, NV; granddaughter, Erin Lindsay O'Connor, Dallas, TX; grandson, Andrew Doyle O'Connor, Henderson, NV; and a sister, Myrna Zeiner, Lufkin, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Jerry will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
