Jerry N. Brumley, 71, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at a local hospital.
Jerry was born January 23, 1937 in Topeka, the son of Carl Samuel and Violet V. (Harper) Brumley. He graduated from Topeka High School, attended Washburn University and graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1964.
He worked for the State of Kansas, Department of Transportation for 50 years, retiring in 2005. He worked at all three state office buildings beginning as a draftsman and completing the majority of his career as a Civil Engineer.
He was an avid supporter of K.U. Athletics, enjoyed fishing, going to the Royals baseball games, but spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was his greatest joy.
Jerry married Marian Kampschroeder on June 11, 1961 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include sons, Bruce (Johnna) Brumley, their son, Samuel,Topeka; and Brian (Kim) Brumley, and their daughter, Kourtney, Inman.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Jerry will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Friday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
