Gerald Melvin Boyles "Jerry", 89, Topeka, KS passed away Sunday, January 7th, 2024. Jerry was born March 3rd, 1934, in Wichita, KS and moved to Topeka, KS where he graduated from Highland Park High School in 1952. He served in the US Army, Korean war and was stationed in Japan.
Jerry was a mechanical genius and spent his lifetime building Boyles family businesses; Joyland Amusement Park (Kiddie Land), Dairy Freeze, Ice Cream Wagons, Dry Ice, Christmas Trees, Statues & Stuff and Joyland Flea Market. He owned 8 World War II searchlights and a US Army Half-Track. Jerry and family received recognition for serving the community for nearly 100 years where each of the Boyles family ventures proved a strong asset to Topeka and the State of Kansas. "His record of conduct, performance, and devotion to duty reflects allegiance to the highest standard of professionalism. Jerry is survived by his ex-wife of 34 years; Sharon Burkhart-Boyle; children; Carol Munjak (Larry), JB Boyles (Sandy), Ty Boyles (Amy), Jeff Boyles (Teresa), Jenny Boyles, Ronnie Smith, Susan Donahue; grandchildren; Christopher Walker, Emily Walker (Shawn), Andrea McFarland (Allan), Austin Boyles, Kennedy Boyles, Jacob Boyles, Katherine Munjak, Laura Alton (David), Megan Cross (Matthew), Johann Schart (Lindsey), Thomas Schart; great grandchildren; Mila Kazijevs, Misha Kazijevs, Baker McNiel, Sage McNiel, Spencer Schart (Caleb), Shawn Alton, Caleb Alton and Rosalyn Cross; great-great grandchild; Rosalie Bond.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; Charles "Charlie" and Nora Boyles, first wife; Patricia Eaton-Tillman (Albert), sisters; Eloise Humpage (John) and Charlene Honeyman-Foster (Paul).
The memorial services are being held at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel in Topeka, KS on Saturday January 13th, 2024 at 1pm.
Visitation will be from 12pm to 1pm Saturday, January 13th, 2024.
The burial will be at a later date.
