Jeanne Merry, 86, of Topeka passed away Sunday, October 19, 2008.
She was born February 23, 1922 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Earl and Mary (DuVall) Ketchum. She was a 1940 graduate of Argentine High School in Kansas City.
She was a member of First Congregational Church where she was long-time member of the choir and served as a Deaconess. She was Past-President Beta Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Past-President of Stormont-Vail Auxiliary 1980-81 and 1988-89, and served for five years as a volunteer at Stormont-Vail.
Jeanne married Charles F. Merry on June 20, 1942 in Kansas City, KS. He survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Ginny Hansen of Arlington, TX; Granddaughter, Merrylinn Sproul Grusch of Chicago, IL; Granddaugher, Wendi Oliver of Arlington, TX; Grandson, Christopher Crawford of Arlington, TX; Grandson, Sterling Sproul of Topeka; Six great-grandchildren; Her brother, Lyman D. Ketchum of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Susan Sproul in 1984 and three infant grandchildren.
Mrs. Merry was cremated. Memorial services will be held at First Congregational Church in Topeka, KS Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Brewster Place Foundation 1205 SW 29th St. Topeka, KS 66611. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
