Jeanette Matousek, 92, Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Midland Hospice House.
Jeanette was born July 14, 1924 in Esbon, KS, the daughter of Ora and Lola (Halliday) Hills. She graduated from Esbon High School and attended Brown-Mackie School of Business.
Jeanette married Glen Matousek on November 8, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and enjoyed almost 70 years together as husband and wife. Glen died October 10, 2014.
She and her husband owned and operated Rocking M Ranch in Cuba, KS and was also employed as a bookkeeper with Walthers Oil Company.
She was a former member of the Salem Methodist Church in Salem, KS, Jewell Methodist Church in Jewell, KS, and Cuba Presbyterian Church in Cuba, KS.
Survivors include daughter, Rita Ashley of Overland Park; sons, Robert (Noralee) Matousek of Valley Center and Carl Matousek of Holton; grandchildren, Shiloh, Brady and Kelcie Matousek and Brad (Nicole) and Stuart Ashley; and 2 great-granddaughters.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Paul Hills.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will take place following the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Riley.
