Jeanette "Judy" Hill-Wanamaker

Jeanette C. "Judy" Hill-Wanamaker, 94, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Midland Hospice House, Topeka.

Judy was born October 9, 1915 in Topeka; daughter of Charles and Anna (Erickson) Youngdoff. After graduating from high school, Judy attended Washburn University and Strickler's Business College. She worked at National Fire Insurance.

Judy was united in marriage to Nova Hill in 1938. She later married Jay Wanamaker on June 6, 1992 in Topeka.

Judy was a member at First United Methodist Church, where she was a past president of the United Methodist Women. She also was a past president of Optimisses; Chapter HG of PEO Sisterhood; Shawnee Country Club; served as a volunteer at Red Cross, Brewster Place, Every Women Resource Center and Ward-Meade for 17 years, where she was a past president of the Ward-Meade Volunteer Club. Judy was an avid bridge player and loved to travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and two brothers, Ted and Gilbert Youngdoff.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Mary Sue Coffee, Holton; two grandsons, Rodney Maloney and Michael Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Justin Maloney, Megan Maloney, Leslie Brown, Christopher Brown, Duane Brown, Jessica Holmes and Lacey Maloney; five great-great grandchildren, Kallen Heinz, Rayli Brown, Cody Brown, Aryana Holmes and DeAnndra Maloney; and two brothers, Wendell and Larry Youngdoff.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Ave., Topeka. Judy will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka; family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd, Topeka 66603 or Alzheimer's Association, 4125 SW Gage Center Drive, Suite LL-15, Topeka 66604.
