Jeanene Ruth Hoover, 87, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024.
She was born October 19, 1936, in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of William and Velma (White) Cook. She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1954. Following graduation, she attended the Adele Hale School of Business in Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated in 1957.
Jeanene married James "Jim" Hoover on July 26, 1958 in Great Bend, Kansas. They had two children, Craig and Clark.
Jeanene and Jim were long time members of First Presbyterian Church of Topeka and she served as a Deacon. She also was the past President of the Chapter GJ P.E.O. Sisterhood and was an ADPi Alumnae.
She had a passion for loving animals and not just her own pets. Jeanene served on the Helping Hands Humane Society Board for over 20 years and was a past President of the Prairieland Visiting Animals Association. Jeanene co-founded the Topeka Pet Partners.
Jeanene leaves behind her two sons, Craig (Tina) Hoover and Clark (Jodie) Hoover; grandchildren, Ryan (Natalie) Hoover, Matt (Lala) Hoover, Curtis Hoover, Justin (Jess) Hoover and Ashley (Dave) Farr; five great grandsons and two great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her Husband, James Hoover; her parents and brother, Elwyn C. Cook.
Cremation is planned and a memorial ceremony will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 11:00am. Her family will greet relatives and friends 30 minutes prior to the service. She will be laid to rest next to Jim at Great Bend Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Jeanene requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St, Topeka, KS 66604.
