Jean Pritchard, 82, died March 8, 2004, at her home. She was born October 2, 1921 to Harold C. Place and Irma Hoyt Place. Mrs. Pritchard graduated from Topeka High School. She worked for many years as a real estate agent in Topeka, and began her career with the Kirk Company where she worked for 9 years. She later started her own agency, Jean Pritchard Realtors. She was also employed by the City of Topeka. She served as president of the Women's Council of Topeka and was a member of Quota. She was married to James Stafford and later married James Pritchard. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Pritchard, and by her friend Lavada Neal, and by her brother, Harold C. (Bud) Place, who was killed in World War II. She loved her family and will be missed by her son, Jim Pritchard II; her daughters, Ann Pritchard Duffy, Valerie Pritchard Maloney, Susan Stafford, Cindy Stafford, and Michelle Stafford; and her son-in-law, Jeff Maloney. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, March 13 at Mount Hope Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Pritchard wll lie in state from noon Friday at Penwell Gabel Mid-Town Chapel and the family will receive friends from 6:00PM-7:00PM that evening Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or to TARC.
