Jean L. Hunt, 71, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at a local hospital.
Jean was born February 26, 1939 in Topeka, the daughter of Kermit and Genevieve (Hauschild) Swanson. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1957.
She was employed as a secretary and teachers aide with USD-501, and later worked for the Kansas State Board of Education, retiring in 2003.
She was a member of the Kansas Association of Educators Office Professionals, K.S.D.E. Retirees Club, Red Hat Society, Mother of Twins club, and one of five ladies who established the Highland Park Girls Softball Association.
Jean married Darrel "Tubby" Hunt on October 9, 1960 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include daughters, Lori Hollar, Carbondale, Lana (Giles) Hunt-Lowry, Topeka, Lisa (Craig) Heersink, Tecumseh; son, Jeff (Paula) Hunt, Topeka; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and brothers, Herman "Jack" (Melinda) Darby and Dean (Wanda) Swanson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Jean will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
