Elva Jean Hummer Draper, 91, of Topeka, died December 8, 2018 at Oakley Place Adult Care, Topeka, under the compassionate care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
Jean was born January 27, 1927 in Oakland KS, the daughter of Clayton H. and Elva Harriet Magee Hummer. Jean graduated from Topeka High School in 1944.
She married Lt Col John Paul Draper, USAF, Retired on August 24, 1958 in Topeka KS. He survives. Jean loved being a Court Reporter when she wasn't traveling overseas with her Air Force husband. The highlight of her travels was a tour of the Holy Land in 1967.
Other survivors include two sisters, Harriet Hummer Starr and Rebecca Griffy Mathers, both of Topeka, as well as her beloved dog, Sami.
Jean Draper was preceded in death by five brothers, Harry Hummer, Mike Hummer, WO Hummer, Dana Hummer and Tom Hummer.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel.
Private burial will take place at Topeka Cemetery.
