Jean May Beeler, 94, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017.
She was born October 28, 1923 in Augusta, KS, the daughter of Thomas Jay and Hannah May Erwin.
After Jean graduated from high school she moved to Topeka and worked during World War II for the Supply Depot at Forbes Air Base. She later worked as the Draft Board clerk in Manhattan, KS, starting in 1957 until 1965 when the family moved to Alma, KS.
Jean and her husband were co-owners of the Alma Manor Nursing Home for many years.
She married Charles A. Beeler upon his return from the war in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1993.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Reed (Gary) of Topeka; grandchildren, Christine Briones (Rey) of Little Rock, AR, Gary Reed, II of Topeka and Brian Reed (Susan) of Topeka; 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Jean was preceded in death by her infant son, Charles Dennis in 1948. She was also preceded in death by her four siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 15 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. that day at Valley View Memorial Garden in Manhattan, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Lowman United Methodist Church.
