Jay W. Butler, 73, Topeka, Kansas passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at a local hospital.
Jay was born September 1, 1939 in San Bernardino, CA, the son of Max and Dorothy (Bridgewater) Butler. He graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1957.
He was a machinist with AT & SF railroad in San Bernardino and transferred to Topeka and completed 43 years of service, retiring from Burlington-Northern Santa Fe Railroad in 2002.
Jay married Norma Love on December 18, 1959 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives. Other survivors include children, Joi (Gaylen) Hakes, Pine Bluff, AR, Brenda (Tom) Bolduc, Augusta, KS, Deron Butler, Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Hatch, Karly Hakes, Dustin Rafferty, all of Wichita, KS; Lisa Hakes, Pine Bluff, AR; great-granddaughter, Hailey Rafferty, Augusta, KS; brother, O.L. (Chili Man) Butler, Morongo Valley, CA; and sisters, Delores Rosebure, Highland, CA and Carol Pounds, Colorado Springs, CO.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Jay will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday until service time.
