Janice K. Seagraves passed away peacefully at her home in Topeka, Kansas, on September 23, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on February 26, 1943, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Richard W. and Mary Jane (Reklites) Seagraves.
Janice’s education took her through the halls of Topeka High School, followed by her studies at Washburn University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her career was marked by significant contributions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the Menninger's Foundation, with a commitment to ensuring the well-being of those around her. After retirement, Janice devoted her time to volunteering at Stormont Vail Hospital and the US Attorney's office, further exemplifying her selflessness and care for her community.
Throughout her life, Janice maintained a positive outlook, even while living with her own challenges. She was an inspiring individual who managed to uplift those around her, always choosing to see the best in everyone. Janice was also deeply engaged in her faith, being very active in her church at First Baptist Church, where she devoted much time to various church activities, fostering a strong sense of community and support.
Janice is survived by her loving brother, Rick (Linda) Seagraves; her cousins, Margie Shoaf, George Riggin, David Riggin, and Nancy Spano; and her beloved nephews, Connor Seagraves and Patrick Seagraves. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those who knew Janice will remember her not only for her warm smile and kind heart but also for her remarkable resilience and ability to inspire those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Her family would like to express gratitude for the wonderful care and support she received over the years at Brewster Place.
