Janice M. Payne, 48, beloved wife, daughter, sister, and aunt, died following a brief illness on the morning of July 1, 2006. Janice was born December 13, 1957 to her mother, Abbie Johnson of Topeka, and her father, George H. Johnson (deceased). Janice was a twin sister to Janet M. Johnson (deceased). She is survived her husband Eugene L. Payne, her mother and three sisters, Deborah G, Fletcher, Buffalo, N.Y., Diana M. Keith, Milwaukee, WI., and Eva K. Johnson, Topeka.
Janice was a loving aunt to nieces, Yvette M. Brady, Chicago, IL., the mother of Taylor and Keland Brady, Kim D. Keith-Ingram, Westerville, Ohio, mother of Oliva Ingram, and Candice G. Fletcher, Buffalo, N.Y.
Born in Tucson, Ariz, reared in Colorado and Washington D.C., Janice devoted her life to helping her family and anyone she came across who was in need. She was a writer and collector of special family treasures. Janice will always be cherished for her humor, compassion and love of people.
Mrs. Payne will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 6 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 7 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
