Janet S. Miller, 80, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2022.
She was born August 7, 1941, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Vernon and Claire (Anderson) Carlson. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1959. After graduation, she attended classes at Clark Business School.
Janet was a Legal Secretary and worked at various law firms in Topeka and the Kansas City Area. She retired in the early 1990's.
She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and K-State. Janet enjoyed shopping and collecting items over the years. She had a Christmas tree that she left up year round and would change the décor to match the season or holiday. She also loved listening to Elvis. Janet loved her cats; especially Mr. Molly.
Janet married Raymond Miller in 1961. They later separated.
Survivors include her two brothers, Gary Carlson and Steven Carlson; nieces, Kristen Widen, Kara Clawson, Erin Marcotte, Laura Allen, Amber Miller; one nephew, Brian Carlson; great nieces, Claire and Ella Widen, Reanna Marcotte, Madyson and Haylee Miller; great nephews, Brayden and James Marcotte and Benjamin Carlson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life visitation for Janet will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66604. A private inurnment will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Janet's honor may be made to CAT Association of Topeka, 1719 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604.
