Janet Kerns
Janet M. Kerns, 66, of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at a Topeka hospital.
She was born October 10 1939, in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Holland and Evelyn Vendel Fox.
She was a 1957 graduate of Washburn Rural High School. She was a teacher and Assistant Director of Lakeshore Learning Center for more than twenty years.
She married Kenneth D. Kerns on December 1, 1957 in Topeka. He survives. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Other survivors include five sons, Michael D. of Topeka, Terry J. of Wichita, Danny J. of Silver Lake, Jeffry S. of Auburn and Joey A. Kerns of Portland, OR; her mother, Evelyn Fox of Topeka; a sister, Vicki Corwin of Topeka; a brother, Gary Fox of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Mrs. Kerns will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Friday, July 21, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 22, 2006 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Mission Center Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67211 or to the Kansas State University Center for Basic Cancer Research, Ackert Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506-4903.
