Janet Louise (Berg) Lampe, 67, of Topeka, KS passed away the morning of July 9, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family, following a battle with Cholangiocarcinoma cancer.
She was born on February 16, 1951 in Lindsborg, KS the daughter of James and Virgie (Larson) Berg. She grew up in Lindsborg, and attended Lindsborg High School, and graduated from Highland Park High School. She went on to earn her undergraduate degree and Master's degree from Washburn University in Education. She spent her years in education teaching Special Education at various schools. She retired in May 2014.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her 13 grandchildren. Janet especially loved nature, and bird watching.
During her lifetime Janet was known as a wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She was proud of her Scandinavian heritage and was a founding member of the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers. She loved music and participated in choirs in Lindsborg and at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, where she was a member for several years.
Janet was a world traveler and particularly fond of Alaska, Ireland, Scotland, Portugal, and Canada.
Janet married James Lampe on May 26, 1973 in Lindsborg, KS. He survives. Other survivors include children, Kajsa Elizabeth Lampe-Martinez, Maia Helena Hamilton (Brian), Annika Louise Wilson (Zack), grandchildren, Katja Andrea Lampe Martinez, Erik James Lampe Martinez, Malena Elizabeth Hamilton, Caleb Gragg Wilson, Nikolaus David Hamilton, Anja Louise Lampe Martinez, William Michael Lampe Martinez, Kiera Elise Hamilton, Chloe Louise Wilson, Jessica Marie Amy Wilson, Kason James Hamilton, Alex Lano Wilson, Eli James Wilson, siblings, Jack Berg (Anita), Jeanne Berg (Jeannine Herron), as well as her "honorary daughter," Kristin Willis Banks (Adam) and sister-in-law, Martine Berg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; as well as brother, James Berg.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 SW 8th Avenue, Topeka.
Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Lindsborg, KS.
