Jane F. Tharp of Topeka, Kansas, peacefully passed away on December 21, 2024 at the remarkable age of 100, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on November 30, 1924, to Edward Joseph Foltz and Ethel May (Van Dyke), Jane led a life filled with love and accomplishments. She attended Washburn University, where she was an active member of the Alpha Phi sorority. Her sisters celebrated her beauty and spirit when she earned the title of Homecoming Queen in 1944. On top of being homecoming queen, Jane also modeled for Crosby Brothers and Pelletiers.
Her beauty eventually captured the eyes of Charles Tharp, who became the love of her life. They were united in marriage on June 23,1945 in Topeka, Kansas, embarking on a journey of love that would last a lifetime. Together, they raised three children who were their pride and joy.
Jane’s career as a secretary at the Kansas State Legislature showcased her intelligence and dedication. Jane balanced her professional life with her passions, enjoying golf and being an active member of the First Congregational Church in Topeka.
Above all, Jane treasured the moments spent with her family, particularly at their cabin on Lake Wabaunsee, where laughter and memories were shared while enjoying time on the water riding the pontoon boat.
Jane leaves behind her daughter Joan (Patrick) Scott, granddaughters Billi (Dale) Siebert, Christi Evans, son-in-law, Paul Gray, granddaughter Kelly Gray, grandson Matthew (Kate) Gray, as well as 7 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Tharp, parents Edward and Ethel Foltz, brother Joe Foltz, son Steven Tharp, daughter Jean Gray, and grandsons Jeff and Brian Tharp.
An inurnment will take place in the Spring at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Cotton O’Neill Cancer Center.
