Dorothy "Jane" Lane, 97, Overland Park, formerly of Topeka, KS and Springfield, MO, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016.
She was born December 3, 1918, in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of William and Marguerite (Kaufmann) Adair. She graduated from Topeka High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from the University of Kansas, where she was also a member of Alpha Delta Pi.
Jane was a practicing pharmacist until she was 75, retiring from Venture Pharmacy, Springfield, MO in 1994.
She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Cathedral, Topeka, Order of the Eastern Star and White Shrine both in Springfield, MO and Daughters of the American Revolution, John Haupt Chapter.
On August 29, 1942 she married Asher Lane, Jr. at Grace Cathedral, Topeka. Asher preceded her in death in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lou Lane, her twin sister, Betty Lou Whitney and sister, Virginia Cooper.
Survivors include two sons, William Asher Lane and James Patrick Lane; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Ave., Topeka.
