Jane Johnson, 76, of Topeka, passed away Friday, August 13, 2021.
She was born March 27, 1945, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Marvin and Nora (Holmes) Beckert.
She enjoyed fishing. Together her and her husband would construct fishing tackle and rods. Their favorite spot to fish was at the Melvern Lake Marina. Some may even say that they caught all of the crappie in the lake.
Jane liked going to the casino, there you would only find her at the penny machines. She never would go to anything over a quarter. When it came to gardening, she had a true green thumb. She could get a seed to grow anywhere.
She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends. She was a wonderful person and treasured those close to her.
Jane married Richard Stevens Johnson on March 27, 1964 in Topeka, Kansas. They shared 58 years of beautiful marriage.
Survivors include her husband; son, Richard Steven Johnson, II; granddaughter, Patience (Tyler) Ard; brother-in-law, James (Pokye) Johnson; sister-in-laws, Margaret Johnson and Patricia (Edd) Grovo and her nephew, Paul (Angie) Shields. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Judy Shields.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604.
A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
