Jane Willard Gideon

Jane Gideon, Topeka, Kansas, died on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

Jane Louise was born on October 12, 1928 in Topeka, Kansas daughter of Glenn and Louise Willard. She attended Potwin and Roosevelt schools and graduated from Topeka High School in 1945. A graduate of Kansas State College of Agriculture and Applied Science (now KSU) in 1949 with a BS degree at the age of 20.

She was President of her sorority Chi Omega. Jane was married to James Holstine in 1954 and until his death in 2002. She and Clarence Gideon were married in 2004 and until his death in 2015.

Survivors are her sons, James, Jr. "Jed" and Gerri Holstine of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and John Drew Holstine of Newton, Kansas; granddaughters, Jennifer (Patrick) Daugherty of Signal Mountain, Tennessee and Jamie Holstine of Atlanta, Georgia, and great-grandson, Tripp Daugherty; step sons, C.J. (Cecile) Gideon of Nashville, Tennessee, Pat Gideon of Topeka, Kansas, and step daughter Kerri (Sam) Martin of Topeka and their children; a brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Ginny Holstine of Plano, Texas; and a nephew and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by brothers, William, Robert, and James Willard. Jane was an Episcopalian.

Honoring her request, cremation is planned without services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Topeka High School Historical Society, 800 SW 10th St Topeka, KS 66612.
