Jane Dennery

Jane F. Dennery, 87, Topeka, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2005 at Presbyterian Manor.

She was born November 24, 1917 in Burdick, the daughter of Albin and Leva Phelps Freedlun She moved to Herington as a young child and graduated from the Herington High School in 1936.

Jane was a reporter for the Herington Advertiser from 1939 to 1945. She moved to Topeka and worked for the Topeka Daily Capital. Later she worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas as the manager of public relations, retiring in 1980.

She was President of Kansas Press Women's Association and held offices in the National Press Women's Association where she received an award for service in that organization.

Jane continued her enjoyment of writing and reporting by compiling memories of the time she spent with her Aunt Nellie after her mother died.

Survivors include cousins: Bill Robinson and Anne Marie Robson, both of Abilene.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 13, 2005 at the Jellison Chapel at Topeka Presbyterian Manor. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the Sunset Cemetery in Herington.
