James Phillip Weir Jr.
1948-2009
James Phillip Weir Jr., 60, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009. He was born on Oct. 13, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas to James Phillip, Sr. and Susan "Bonnie" (Jensen) Weir.
On June 3, 1972 he married Lori Witt in Matawan, NJ. He was a design engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad for 27 years and also owned and operated Weir Quality Products for 13 years. He was a lifelong, highly active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Mr. Weir also served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 until 1972 and was an active Gideon.
Survivors include his wife, Lori; two sons, Ryan Weir (Kristen) and Marc Weir (Joey) all of Topeka; and 3 grandchildren: Zachary, Kylie and Andrew Weir. He was preceded in death by a son Eric Weir.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Weir will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Building Fund, 901 SW Fillmore St., Topeka, KS 66606.
