James Henry Walker, 81, Topeka, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2004, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas.
He was born May 20, 1922, in Osage County the son of John W. and Florence Kramer Walker. He moved to Topeka in 1950.
Mr. Walker worked as an Educator for USD 501 for many years, and had degrees from Kansas State and Pittsburg State universities. He worked as a shop teacher at Topeka High School and Topeka West High School until he left to supervise vocational education. He was one of the original administrators for Kaw Area Technical School in Topeka. Mr. Walker was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as the treasurer for over 20 years. He was a veteran having served in World War II.
He married Naomi L. Smith on August 7, 1943, in Osage City, Kansas. She survives.

A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Walker will lie in state after 1:00 p.m., Monday with a visitation from 7-8:00 p.m.
