James L. Vaughn, 72, of Harlingen, TX, formerly of Topeka passed away January 17, 2010.
Jim was born October 7, 1937, in Topeka, the son of Timothy and Lydia (Viles) Vaughn. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1955. Jim married Doris Ireland on October 12, 1958.
He worked for National Bank of Topeka for 19 years and later retired from Commerce Bank and Trust after 25 years of service.
After retiring in 1999, Jim and Doris wintered in La Feria, TX and later made their permanent home in Harlingen, TX.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Danny and Larry Vaughn and sister Margaret Higgins.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, and sons, Kevin (April) of Topeka, David (Sally) of Wichita, and Scott of San Antonio, TX.; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Collin, Tyler, Jamie, Travis and Timothy Vaughn, Trent Brown, Justin and Morgan Corbett, Ginny (Corey) Ask, Nicole (Robert) Boston; two great grandsons, Jason & Jonathan, a brother, Bud (Billie) Vaughn and a sister, Barbara (Jim) Dyer.
Mr. Vaughn will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday January 22, 2010 at the funeral home. Private gravesite services will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in, Topeka.
