James Perine, 78, Topeka, passed away Monday, April 28, 2008.
James was born on July 30, 1929, in Topeka, Kansas the son of John and Nell Perine.
He was a 1947 graduate of Topeka High School and attended Washburn University three years. He was a member of the Alpha Delta Fraternity at Washburn. Jim was a member of Westside Baptist Church for 78 years where he also served as a deacon. Jim was devoted to his family. He was a kind, loving husband, Father and Grandpa and had a great love for the game of golf.
He owned and operated R.C. Perine and Son Welding and Machine Shop. This is the third oldest business in Topeka. Currently a fifth generation family business, it was founded in 1856.
Jim was married to Ellen Ragland for 56 years. She preceded him in death February 9, 2008. Survivors include his five children, Michael Perine, Patricia Nash, Scott Perine, Lori Moyer, Stan Perine, and ten grandchildren. Cremation is planned. Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
