James D. McElfresh, 61, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007 after a long illness.
Born in Emporia, Kansas February 6, 1942, son of George Lewis McElfresh and Dorothy Ward McElfresh. When he was six weeks old he moved to Satanta, Kansas in the western part of the state. He attended schools in Satanta. He attended Kansas State University in Manhattan, and earned a BBA in accounting in 1977 from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
His marriages to Jane Kimble and Janet Light ended in divorce.
He lived in Topeka for many years, worked in the field of health care and tax preparation.
He is survived by a sister, Ann Bolt of Olney, Maryland and a brother, Robert Service of Phoenix, AZ, niece, Stephanie Bolt Daniel (Ricky) and their children Derek and Evelyn of Round Rock, Texas, friends and cousins.
James will lie in state Monday, May 28 after 1:00PM at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, May 29 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, 3616 SW 6th, Topeka. To leave a special message for the family, online, visit www.PenwellGabel.com.
